Have you ever dreamed of having your own statue proudly standing in your locality? It might sound weird because you know that only the prominent people and those honored are being built with statue. But it is not really impossible if you want to pursue it. Sculpture is a three-dimensional artwork that involves the moulding of materials to create an image. Most of the arts found in the entire world are sculpture.
One form of sculpture is statue. Statue is a representationalist sculpture depicting a specific entity, usually a person, event, animal or object. It can be busted which depicts representation of a person from the chest up, and equestrian statue which is typically showing a significant person on horseback. Sculptors generally sought to produce work of art that is permanent as possible. They work on expensive material such as bronze, marble, limestone and granite. They rarely use precious materials such as gold, silver, jade, and ivory.
The art of sculpting has been widely used since the ancient times. Many sculptures are made mainly for religious purposes. As time pass by, sculptors have widened their expertise. Some of them have created sculptures depicting nude people. These are common to the sculptors of the ancient Romans and Greeks. Romans and Greeks have nude sculptors of their gods and goddesses. Modern sculpture involves the famous works of the famous artist known in the entire world.

Ø David by Michelangelo. It is considered by many the greatest sculpture of Michelangelo and indeed the best sculpture of all times. It is sculpted from a piece of marble that is widely considered to be too thin for the project.
Ø Pieta by Michelangelo. Michelangelo has two renditions of his Pieta. It depicts Mary cradling the dead body of Jesus. It represents Mary as young and serene. It is the masterpiece of Michelangelo found in the St Peter basilica in the Vatican City.
Ø Hermes by Praxiteles. It is the only surviving sculpture of Praxiteles. This was a sculpture which set a benchmark for how facial features and hair were to be sculpted.
Ø The Kiss by Auguste Rodin. It is one of the most seductive sculptures and indeed one of the most engaging works of art.
Ø The Thinker by Auguste Rodin. It is a masterpiece originally designed for the gates of Hell. But it become a famous worldwide to be a fantastic work by a great sculptor.
Ø Savannah Bird Girl statue by Sylvia Shaw. This statue can be seen in the best selling book Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil’ by John Berendt. This art is quite astounding and provoking.
Ø The Discus Thrower. It is a Greek art renowned for its contribution to the contrapossto form of sculpture.
Ø Venus Di Milo. It is one of the famous sculptures of all times. The artist who made it is lost to antiquity but it still inspires many.
